I think that if I actually saw "Psycho" in a movie theater when it was released in 1960, I would be pretty disgusted about the SHOT FOR SHOT remake due out in theaters on December 4th. I'd probably be in the mind set that the movie's already a classic so why not re-release the origional into movie theaters again and let everyone watch that classic. (I can't really imagine a movie like ET, that I actually saw in the movie theaters, being remade by a different director).

Even after saying all that, I have never actually seen the movie Psycho, all the way trough atleast, and am excited about seeing the modern day remake. I'm interested in seeing just how true Gus Van Sant will be to the original movie (I plan to rent the original Psycho before going to see the remake). Hopefully the movie will be able to survive on it's own merits and won't be a considered a "mere" copy of the original. Will the public go see a total remake? My guess is yes. Either to criticize it if it strays too far from the original or if it stays too close to the original.

One question though; If Psycho does well at the box-office, what will be the next "classic" movie to be remade? Will Jerry Seinfield star in "The Birds". What about Charlton Heston being in a SHOT FOR SHOT remake of "The Ten Commandments"?

I don't know about you but until someone gets off their duff and makes a SHOT FOR SHOT remake of the 60's classic "Manos: The Hands of Fate" I won't be totally satisfied with the whole "remake" thing. I see Mark Hamil as The Master and Tom Hanks as Torgo.
