Wolfenstein 3D, "My Video Game"

I’m not a "video game guy". I don't own a X-Box. I don’t plan on buying an X-Box. I've only ever bought a few video games for my iMac and currently have no game purchases in mind. Sure, I owned an Atari and Nintendo way back when in the cloudy yesteryear that was the 1980’s, but I never played them that much anyway. Still, there was one video game that really caught on with me.

Back in the early 1990’s, my friend Jerod James introduced me to the video game ‘Wolfenstein 3d, The First Encounter’ for the PC and I couldn’t get enough. On and off for the next decade I'd find myself playing all nine levels of the game. I played the game enough that I found a whole extra level tacked on to the game. (For those interested, it’s on the first level in a secret room within a secret room).

In Wolfenstein there are four levels of difficulties; “Can I play daddy?” or very easy, “Don’t hurt me” medium hard, “Bring ‘em on!” hard, and “I am DEATH incarnate!” very, very hard. I’d start off on the easiest level, and then make my way through the harder versions playing it to the end. I’ve spent endless hours of fun in front of the computer playing this game. I’ve even found a free Mac friendly version on the net and play Wolfenstein on my iMac from time to time.

Now I find out that the game’s being resurrected in a game called “Return to Castle Wolfenstein”. I’m excited about this new game but probably won’t end up buying it. I’m not a “video game guy”, remember? 11/17/01
